On the weekend of 21st November the Madrid Players will recreate the environment and atmosphere of a 1940s New York Radio Theatre with a presentation of both the rehearsal and the performance on air of a radio serial.
This homage to the golden age of radio will include the rare opportunity to see and hear a live performance of Orson Welles legendary broadcast of “The War of the Worlds”, a piece so powerful it set off genuine hysteria when originally broadcast on October 30th, 1938. Other offerings are lighter and more humorous.
The actors will be faced with real microphones and the sound man will be creating real sound effects with a variety of household objects. Those on stage will be faced with the tensions of performing “live” on air, and with a text adapted from genuine American radio scripts an evening of fun, drama and surprises is guaranteed.
